About this generator

Out of 8 mm plugs on a Sunday? Print a handful.

How to use

  1. Set the drill size, the length and the screw size.
  2. Print them standing on the collar.
  3. Tap one into the hole and drive the screw in.

Printing tips

  • PETG or nylon. PLA plugs crack when the screw spreads them.
  • Printed plugs are for light loads in solid walls: pictures, hooks, cable clips. Use bought plugs for shelves, TVs, ceilings and anything that could hurt someone if it fell.
  • Print with 4 walls and 100 % infill.

Frequently asked questions

How much can it hold?

Much less than a bought nylon plug, and it depends on your print. Treat it as a light-duty fixing.

Which screw fits?

A screw about 60 % of the drill size works well: 5 mm in an 8 mm plug, 4 mm in a 6 mm plug.
