About this generator

Every seed number grows a different snowflake, and the same seed always grows the same one, so you can share a number and someone else prints your flake. The arms are always joined in the middle: one piece, nothing to glue.

How to use

  1. Type any seed number, or step through numbers until you like the flake.
  2. Choose how many branches each arm gets and how deep the branching goes.
  3. Set the diameter and the arm thickness, then download the STL or 3MF.
  4. Print it flat and hang it by the loop on the top arm.

Printing tips

  • Arms are at least 1.2 mm wide. Thicker arms are sturdier on a tree.
  • White, translucent or glitter PLA looks like snow. A 0.4 mm nozzle handles the default flake.

Frequently asked questions

Will the same seed give the same snowflake next year?

Yes. The flake is calculated from the seed number and the other settings, so the same settings always give the same shape.

Can parts of the flake come loose?

No. Every branch and twig is drawn from the arm it grows on, so the model is one connected piece. How strong thin arms are in your filament is something only a print shows.
