About this generator

A wreath is usually too big for a printer. This one is made of arc segments: each has a dovetail tongue at one end and a matching socket at the other, and together they close into an exact ring. One segment has the hanging loop, the one opposite holds the bow.

How to use

  1. Set the outside diameter and the number of segments, and set Print bed size to your printer. The segments and the bow are packed onto as many plates of that size as needed; a segment that is longer than the bed gives a message.
  2. Choose holly or pine relief, and turn berries and the bow on or off.
  3. Download Plate 1, Plate 2, … one at a time and print each plate flat. In the 3MF the berries are a separate color on their segments; keep them together with their segment in the slicer.
  4. Lay the segments in a ring and slide each tongue down into the next socket. Push the bow's peg into the hole of the bottom segment and hang the wreath by the loop.

Printing tips

  • If the dovetails are tight, raise Fit clearance; if the ring is loose, lower it or add a drop of glue.
  • More segments mean smaller pieces for a small bed.

Frequently asked questions

How big can it get?

Up to 300 mm across. At 300 mm with 8 or more segments every piece fits a 150 mm bed. All plates side by side is too big for one bed: download one plate at a time.

Do the joints hold the wreath when it hangs?

The dovetails lock the segments in the ring; they slide apart only straight up or down. How firm the fit is depends on your printer; glue makes it permanent.
