About this generator
Herbs and houseplants that never dry out: water wicks up from the reservoir as the soil needs it.
How to use
- Print both pots upright.
- Thread a cotton cord through the wick hole so it reaches the reservoir floor.
- Fill with soil, plant, then pour water in through the hole in the flange.
Printing tips
- Use PETG for water tightness and 3 walls; a vase-mode print won't hold water at the floor seam.
- Check the water level by lifting the inner pot.
Helpful guides
Part of a project
- Start a windowsill garden: From seed to pot: a tray to start in, labels to remember what is what, and watering that looks after itself.
Frequently asked questions
How does it work?
The inner pot hangs in the outer pot, which holds the water. A cotton cord through the hole in the inner floor carries water up to the soil.
How do I check the water level?
Lift the inner pot, or look through the fill gap. Print in PETG with 3 walls so the outer pot holds water.
