About this generator

A gift that gets used every day. Type a name, pick a font and a symbol, and you get a desk organizer with the name standing up across the front.

How to use

  1. Type the name and pick a font. Round, bold fonts give the classic look; More fonts has scripts, comic and pixel styles.
  2. Set the letter height. The box width follows the name, so check the size fits your printer bed.
  3. Pick a symbol for the ends and the back wall, and a letter style: rounded, chamfered or flat.
  4. Download the STL for one color, or the 3MF to print the front letters in a second color.

Printing tips

  • Print standing up as it lies in the preview. No supports are needed.
  • The undersides of letter arms (E, F, T) are short flat overhangs. Keep Letter thickness at 6 mm or less; a little sag there is hidden from the front.
  • On a single-color printer the stepped outline still gives the letters depth.

Frequently asked questions

The name is too wide for my printer. What can I do?

Lower Letter height or Letter spacing, or use a narrower font such as Bebas Neue. The box is always as wide as the name.

Why do I get fewer compartments than I set?

Each compartment needs to be at least about 15 mm wide. With a short name the box is narrow, so fewer fit.

Why can't the letters be taller than the box?

The box wall holds the letters up from behind. Letters taller than the box would have parts hanging in the air.
