About this generator

The calm of a Japanese screen, in a size that fits your shelf.

How to use

  1. Pick a pattern and set the size of the panel.
  2. Set the cell size: smaller cells make a finer lattice.
  3. Print it flat.

Printing tips

  • Print flat, without supports.
  • Wood-fill filament in a light tone looks closest to the real thing.
  • For a lamp or window insert, print thin (2 to 3 mm) and back it with paper.
  • Slow the outer walls a little for crisp strips.

Frequently asked questions

What is kumiko?

A Japanese woodworking technique in which thin strips are fitted into patterns without nails. Asanoha, the hemp leaf, is the best-known pattern.

Can I make a round coaster?

This generator makes rectangular panels. A square of 95 mm works well as a coaster.
