About this generator

Lost the lid of a good jar? Measure its thread and print a new one, with a label on top if you like.

How to use

  1. Measure the outside diameter over the jar's thread ridges.
  2. Measure the distance between two ridges (the pitch).
  3. Set the lid depth to cover the thread.
  4. Print as exported, top down.

Printing tips

  • PETG is food-safe in many brands and handles dishwashers better than PLA.
  • Add a silicone or rubber ring inside for an airtight seal.
  • If it is too tight, raise the clearance by 0.1 mm.

Frequently asked questions

How do I measure the pitch?

Lay a ruler along the side of the jar and count the ridges over 20 mm. Pitch = 20 / number of ridges.

Is it airtight?

Printed threads are not airtight on their own. Add a seal ring cut from a silicone sheet.

The lid is too tight.

Raise Thread clearance by 0.1 mm and print again.
