About this generator
Thread, a board and a rule: go from each peg to the peg twice as far along. A heart appears inside a circle.
How to use
- Pick a figure and the number of pegs.
- Print the board.
- Tie the thread to peg 1 and wind it by a rule, for example always 13 pegs further.
Printing tips
- Print flat, pegs up, without supports. The peg heads widen at 45°.
- A dark board with bright thread gives the strongest effect.
- Pegs break if they are too thin: use 2.8 mm or more, and 3 walls.

Frequently asked questions
What patterns can I make?
On a circle with 36 pegs, joining every peg to the one 13 further makes a star; joining peg n to peg 2n makes a heart shape called a cardioid.
Can children use it?
