About this generator

Measure how your child grows, right on the nursery wall. The ruler comes in parts that fit your bed and join with jigsaw tabs.

How to use

  1. Type the name and pick centimeters or inches.
  2. Set the bottom and the top of the ruler. The bottom is how high above the floor you will hang it.
  3. Set the longest section to what fits on your printer; the ruler is split into equal parts.
  4. Print all sections at once, or one at a time with Show section.

Printing tips

  • Print flat, face up. No supports.
  • Change filament at the board thickness (5 mm by default) for colored ticks.
  • Hang it with the bottom edge at exactly the bottom value above the floor: measure from the floor, not from the skirting board.

Frequently asked questions

How do the parts join?

Each section has a jigsaw tab at the top that drops into the slot at the bottom of the next one. Add a drop of glue if you like; the screws hold it to the wall.

Why does it start at 50?

A child stands taller than 50 cm long before you start measuring, so the ruler doesn't need to reach the floor. Hang it with its bottom edge 50 cm above the floor.
