Etsy fee calculator for 3D prints

On a sale, Etsy takes a USD 0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the price plus shipping, and a payment processing fee (3% plus USD 0.25 in the US). Pick your country below, enter your price and costs, and see every fee and what you keep.

Your costs

From the print cost calculator.

Fees where you sell

Taken of price plus shipping.

Taken of the whole order.

Some fees are taken of the sales tax too. It doesn't change what you keep otherwise.

  • The transaction fee is not taken of US sales tax; payment processing is.
  • The listing fee is paid for every listing (and again each time one sells from a listing with more than one item), whether or not it sells. It is counted here once per sale.
  • Offsite Ads cost 15% of the order, or 12% once your shop sold USD 10,000 or more in a year (then you can't opt out). Change the percentage if 12% applies to you.
  • Since June 2025 Etsy's "Made by seller" rule leaves out items made from a templated design or pattern. Check Etsy's Creativity Standards for what you may sell there.
Tax

Leave at 0 if you don't charge it. This is not tax advice.

How to use it

  1. Choose where your shop is based: the US, the UK or the Netherlands. The fees fill in for that country, in its currency.
  2. Enter your sale price and the shipping the buyer pays.
  3. Enter what the item costs you to make, to pack and to ship. The print cost calculator works out the first one.
  4. Tick the Offsite Ads box when a sale came from one of Etsy's ads on other sites, to see what that sale leaves you.
  5. Change the price until the profit looks right, and save Etsy as your default for next time.

The formula

Listing fee = USD 0.20 per listing

Transaction fee = 6.5% × (price + shipping)

Payment processing (US) = 3% × (price + shipping + sales tax) + USD 0.25

Offsite Ads (when it applies) = 15% × (price + shipping), at most USD 100

You keep = buyer pays − tax − fees − your costs

Outside the US, prices include VAT and Etsy takes its fees of the price with VAT. UK sellers also pay a 0.48% regulatory operating fee; sellers in France, Italy and Spain pay one too.

The listing fee is paid when you list, whether the item sells or not. The calculator counts it once per sale, which is right when each listing sells once.

Worked example

A $24.00 name sign with $6.00 shipping paid by the buyer. It costs $3.80 to make, $0.60 to pack and $5.20 to ship. The shop is in the US and the sale did not come from an ad.

Buyer pays$30.00
Listing fee$0.20
Transaction fee$1.95
Payment processing$1.15
All Etsy fees$3.30
Your costs$9.60
You keep$17.10

Etsy takes $3.30, 11.0% of what the buyer pays, and you keep $17.10 of the sale.

Can you sell 3D prints on Etsy?

Since June 2025, Etsy's "Made by seller" category no longer covers items made with a templated design or pattern. Many sellers read that as: prints of designs you didn't make yourself don't belong on Etsy. Whether an item you set up in a generator counts as your own design is for Etsy to say, not us. Read Etsy's Creativity Standards and check before you list.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving shipping out: the transaction fee is taken of the shipping the buyer pays too.
  • Forgetting Offsite Ads. If your shop sold less than USD 10,000 in a year you can opt out; above that every sale from such an ad costs 12% more.
  • Pricing from the US rates while your shop is in the UK or the EU, where the payment fee is 4% and fees include VAT.

Questions

How much does Etsy take from a sale?

For a US shop: the USD 0.20 listing fee, 6.5% of the price plus shipping, and 3% plus USD 0.25 for payment processing. On a USD 30 order that is USD 3.30, 11%. A sale from an Offsite Ad adds 15% (12% for larger shops).

Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The transaction fee and the Offsite Ads fee are taken of the price plus what the buyer pays for shipping and gift wrap. Payment processing is taken of the whole order, including sales tax or VAT.

Are Etsy's fees different in the UK and Europe?

The transaction fee is the same 6.5%, but payment processing is 4% plus £0.20 in the UK and 4% plus €0.30 in the Netherlands and Germany, and the fees are taken of prices that include VAT. UK sellers pay a 0.48% regulatory operating fee on top.

What are Offsite Ads?

Etsy advertises listings on other sites. When a buyer clicks such an ad and buys from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of that order (12% once your shop has sold USD 10,000 or more in a year), at most USD 100 per order.

Is this calculator free?

Yes. It runs in your browser, needs no account, and what you enter is not sent anywhere or put in a link.
